Find a practitioner

This site does not list individual practitioners and does not run a directory. There are two reasons. First, maintaining an accurate, up-to-date directory requires significant ongoing infrastructure that risks going stale faster than it can be updated. Second, the Australian professional bodies already maintain their own registers, and they are more current, more reliable, and more credible than anything I could build alongside this site.

So instead, this page points you to the two main professional registers in Australia. Both are credible places to start.

The two main registers

Hypnotherapy Council of Australia national register

The HCA is a recognised peak body for the profession in Australia. Its national register lists practitioners who belong to one of its member associations, including ASCH, AACHP, ISPA, and GoAH. A listing means a practitioner has completed accredited training and is bound by a published code of conduct, with a complaints process behind it.

Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association register

The AHA is the largest independent professional body in Australia, dating back to 1949. It maintains its own register, training standards, and code of conduct. Many qualified Australian hypnotherapists are members of the AHA but not of any HCA-affiliated body. A meaningful number are members of both.

Either register is a credible starting point. This site takes no position on which body is better; both maintain genuine training and ethical standards, and the political question of which should be considered the peak body for the profession is not one I think a guide for clients should weigh in on.

What to do once you have a shortlist

Once you have two or three names from one or both registers, the How to choose a hypnotherapist in Australia article covers what to look for, what to ask on a discovery call, what kind of qualification matters, and how to know whether a particular practitioner is a good fit for what you’re working on.

A note about the author of this site

I (the author of this site) run a separate clinical practice in Sydney called Mindpath Makers. This site is editorial, not a marketing funnel for that practice. I’m one practitioner among many qualified Australian hypnotherapists. Whether you choose to consider my practice or another is genuinely up to you. The full disclosure of my practice and how it relates to this site is on the About and Editorial Standards pages.
